Nissan Rogue Sport Overview:

Nissan introduced the Rogue Sport to drivers in 2017. It is still in its first generation, and this SUV is steadily gaining a fanbase. Slightly smaller than the normal Rogue, the Rogue Sport is an excellent option for those who want something easy to maneuver but still with a large amount of cargo space. The 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport stands out from the packed compact SUV market in enough ways to make it worthwhile.

What's New for 2021?

A few small but significant changes have been made in 2021, including the base S trim getting upgraded to 17-inch wheels. The midlevel SV adds quite a bit of comfort and convenience, now coming with foglights, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. Otherwise, the Rogue Sport carries on into 2021 relatively unchanged.

Performance Stats

Being a small SUV, the Rogue Sport does not need too much power to get up and get going. The entire lineup comes standard with a four-cylinder engine that makes 141-horsepower. A continuously variable transmission is also found in all 2021 Rogue Sport models. Like most vehicles in this class, front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is an option.

Fuel Economy

Above-average fuel economy is one of the biggest selling points for the Rogue Sport in 2021. With the standard front-wheel drive, drivers are looking at 25mpg in the city and 32mpg on the highway. All-wheel-drive Rogue Sport models are estimated to get 24mpg city and 30mpg highway.

Safety Features

The standard equipment list for the Rogue Sport has many desirable features, including several driver aids. All models come with a rearview camera, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and a forward-collision warning. Also included are useful driver assistance features like automatic rear braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. For its top-of-the-line SL trim, Nissan gives the 2021 Rogue Sport traffic sign recognition, driver drowsiness monitoring, and a surround-view camera system.

Technology Features

Buyers will more than likely be impressed by the list of standard technology features found inside of the Rogue Sport in 2021. A 7-inch touchscreen, four-speaker audio system, a USB port, and hands-free text messaging are all standard. Buyers also get Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Siri Eyes Free to make connecting their Rogue Sport to their compatible smartphone easier. There are several advanced features available as well, including navigation and a nine-speaker Bose system.

Cargo Space

The Rogue Sport has impressive cargo capacity, especially in its entry-level variation. Behind the second-row of seats in the S trim are 22.9 cubic feet. The maximum cargo capacity is 61.1 cubic feet. When buyers choose the SV or SL trim levels, they get 20 cubic feet behind the backseat and max out at 53.3 cubic feet. Both the SV and SL trims also have the Divide-N-Hide storage system, which gives drivers an out-of-sight place to stash valuables.

Interior Space and Quality

Despite being a compact SUV, there is enough space to be comfortable in either of the rows of seating in the Rogue Sport. The seats are comfortable, especially in the top-of-the-line SL model. Soft-touch surfaces are found throughout the cabin, which has a simple and easy-to-use layout. The design of the Rogue Sport also keeps most of the road and wind noise out.

Trim Levels

Each of the three trim levels will likely appeal to different types of drivers. The entry-level S has most things that one would want from an SUV. Keyless entry and manually-adjustable front seats join the long list of standard safety and technology equipment found in the Rogue Sport S.

If buyers decide the midlevel SV is more their style, they will get power-adjustment for the driver's seat. Other highlights for the SV include roof rails, push-button start, and premium cloth for the upholstery. The SV has an All-Weather Package that can be added. It includes a remote start, heated front seats, and foglights. There is also a Technology Package, which adds memory-settings for the driver's seat, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centering.

The top SL model sits on 19-inch wheels and adds leather upholstery to the interior. Navigation and a surround-view camera system are also included. There is a SL Premium Package, which consists of a premium audio system, power-adjustment for the front passenger, LED headlights, a sunroof.

Deciding to choose the 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport will mean getting a well-rounded SUV that checks most of the boxes for today's drivers. As a result, it is worth taking for a test drive.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Nissan Rogue Sport

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Nissan Rogue Sport invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Nissan Rogue Sport MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
