2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Overview:

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is a subcompact SUV with seating for 5 people including the driver. It has a pleasant driving experience, plenty of cargo space, a wealth of safety features, and good gas efficiency, so it is well-suited to be a family car. The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport is known for how smooth it feels on both highways and local roads. If you are thinking of buying a new SUV for a family, the 2019 Rogue Sport should be on your list. The combination of value, performance, and features helps it stand out in the crowded competition between subcompact or crossover SUVs.

What's New for 2019

Nissan designed the current look for the Rogue Sport in 2017, so this will be the third model year using the same basic concept. The 2019 line adds a group of new standard features as well as some options. The standard features are a 7-inch infotainment console and mobile connectivity for Android and Apple, plus a new cargo system for storage. The new options are both automation features- one is Nissan's ProPilot Assist software starting at the second trim level, while the other is an automatic rear braking tool.

The new features mean the 2019 model of the Rogue Sport offers better value than 2018. It also reflects a trend across several Nissan vehicles of integrating better standard features and improving the quality of the automation options in 2019.

Available Styles

There are two styles for the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport: a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. You have the choice of either style when you purchase any trim of the Rogue Sport. The upgrade will cost $1350 no matter which of the three trim levels you buy.

Available Trim Levels

The three trim levels for the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport each add progressively more features, style, and options.

The first trim, the baseline model, is the S. It has an MSRP of $22,240. The S has the 7-inch infotainment and connectivity features mentioned above that were added in 2019. The seats and interior are cloth. The S also has a set of automation features, such as automatic emergency braking, a rear camera, and a system that monitors blind spots.

This trim has one optional package, which is called the Appearance package. It adds a set of alloy wheels and all-season tires. The Appearance package costs $570.

The second trim is the SV. The SV costs $1,800 more. The price tag increase comes with a large number of new features, from power seats to a sound system and several new automatic safety features. The SV also has a dual-zone climate control module for comfort.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport SV has two available packages of features, both of which differ from the Appearance package from the S. The first is called All-Weather, and as the name implies it adds features suitable for cold climates. These range from heated mirrors and seats to leather wrapping on the wheel and fog lights. All-Weather costs $920.

The second package is the Technology package. It includes the heated seats, mirrors, and leather wheel from the All-Weather package and adds on more automation, HD radio, and navigation that you can access via the infotainment console. Its price is $2,580.

The third trim is the SL. It adds $3,920 to the price. The SL comes with just about everything from the SV and S trims and their packages. It also has an upgraded sound system designed by Bose. There is just one package that you can add to the SL, which is called Premium. Premium has a moonroof and LED headlights, and it costs $1990.

Driving experience

The aspect of driving the 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport that stands out the most is a smooth, graceful quality to the ride. It never feels inconsistent or jerky. You won't notice any shifts in gears as you drive. The cabin noise is fairly quiet as well. It handles well for its size in both the AWD and front-wheel drive configurations. It can easily handle tasks like parallel parking or maneuvering in a tight driveway.

Fuel Economy

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport manages 25 miles per gallon on local roads and 32 on highways. For all-wheel drive versions, you can expect slightly lower efficiency due to the weight. This efficiency is average to above-average compared to other SUVs in this size category. This is partly because the Rogue Sport has a larger carrying capacity- you can fit significantly more cargo than some of its competition.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Nissan Rogue Sport

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Nissan Rogue Sport invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Nissan Rogue Sport MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
