Ram 2500 4WD Overview:

What's New for 2021?

The 2021 Ram 2500 pickup truck offers class-leading digital technology in the Uconnect 12.0 infotainment. Some major highlights of this 12.0-inch multimedia platform include SiriusXM Guardian and 4G Wi-Fi. An all-new electronic transfer case with dial controls is also available for enhanced performance.

Styles

The 2021 Ram 2500 offers the Regular Cab with two doors and up to three seats. This powerful pickup truck also comes in the Crew Cab, which includes four doors and a maximum of six seats. The longest bed on the lineup measure 76 inches in length.

Some monotone paint options for this Ram model include Flame Red, Hydro Blue and Olive Green. Select trims are available in low-volume paint options, such as Utility Orange and Construction Yellow. Additionally, this full-size pickup truck offers real leather trimming, wooden inlays, aluminum accents and other premium materials inside the cabin.

Performance

Engineered to deliver 850 pound-feet of peak torque, the 2021 Ram 2500's 6.7 L engine wears the exclusive Cummins badge. Configured into an I-6 formation, the patented diesel powertrain generates up to 370 net horsepower. This turbocharged propulsion unit has a conventional towing capacity of just less than 20,000 pounds. Additionally, the Cummins engine supports a maximum payload of approximately 3,200 pounds.

Carrying the legacy of the HEMI technology, a 6.4 L V8 engine is another option under the hood of this heavy-duty pickup truck. Every combustion cycle in this gasoline-burning powertrain is precisely managed by the Variable-Cam Timing function. Using normal aspiration for induction, the HEMI engine claims a 410-hp rating. Rated at 429 lb-ft of peak torque, this legendary powertrain hauls a payload of just more than 4,000 pounds. When equipped with the proper hardware, the HEMI engine tows slightly more than 17,500 pounds.

Featuring electronic operations, an eight-speed automatic transmission system processes output from the HEMI engine. The high-performance gearbox includes on-the-fly shift mapping for minimal delays. Generating up to six gear sequences, an automatic transmission system is optimized for the Cummins diesel engine.

Most Ram 2500 models may be equipped with the Automatic-Level Rear Air Suspension, which adjusts itself based on the payload and passenger load in real time. Assembled by the iconic Bilstein brand, gas-charged shock absorbers can also be installed on this tough pickup truck. Fine-tuned for off-road trails, these components have monotube configurations for maximum absorption of vibrations.

This heavy-duty Ram model could be upgraded with lots of other mechanical features for enhanced durability and performance. For instance, an engine block heater guarantees reliable combustion in cold weather. An electronically controlled throttle improves handling on flat and sloped terrains. Having an anti-spin mechanism, a differential rear axle significantly improves traction on slippery pavement or rough trails. This important hardware is integrated into a 4x4 drive system for good all-terrain handling.

Some of the 2021 Ram 2500 trims offer dual alternators that are rated at 440 peak amps. Similarly, optional dual batteries generate up to 1,460 amps under the hood of this heavy-duty pickup truck. The Upfitter Electronic Module can be installed to work smoothly with the custom alternators and batteries.

Fuel Economy

The 2021 Ram 2500 earns a combined fuel economy of approximately 15 MPG. However, the actual gas mileage varies according to several major parameters, including the cabin configuration, drivetrain, bed length, fuel grade and exterior accessories. With assistance from the Multi-Displacement System, the HEMI V8 engine achieves reasonable fuel economy on the highway or in the city. Most models have a 28-gallon fuel tank, so the estimated driving range is about 420 miles.

Technology

The Uconnect 12.0 infotainment console serves as the main command-and-control center in the 2021 Ram 2500. Supporting pinch-to-zoom technology, the 12.0-inch touch screen provides the functionality of a contemporary tablet device. With a few taps of the display, the driver can access SiriusXM Traffic Plus or SiriusXM Travel Link. Google maps and other travel-related applications will appear on the 12.0-inch monitor thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This heavy-duty Ram pickup truck offers a 12-month trial to SiriusXM Guardian, which comes with various security features and other remote services. Graphical icons of more than 100 SiriusXM 360L channels also appear on the 12.0-inch multimedia screen. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot can be used to stream custom entertainment during a ride. Featuring noise-cancelling technology, the optional Harman Kardon audio system comes with 17 speakers that peak at 900 acoustic watts.

Exterior Features

The Ram 2500 offers lots of class-leading exterior conveniences, such as a 400-watt power outlet on the bed. Featuring a weatherproof cover, the three-prong outlet in the side of the bed delivers 115 peak volts. Of course, the proprietary RamBox makes a return to the vehicle's bed once again. Illuminated by bright LED lighting, the dual storage boxes can be locked and unlocked with an electronic key fob. These signature storage compartments have multiple drains to protect moisture-related damage to tools and other sensitive equipment.

Safety

Equipped with the Adaptive Forward Lighting, this heavy-duty Ram model is easy to handle at night. The segment-exclusive technology tilts the front headlamps by a maximum of 15 degrees for enhanced vision of curved roads. The driver has access to lots of other technologies that may prevent collisions, like the Adaptive Cruise Control. Maneuvering in tight spaces has never been easier because of the ParkSense Park Assist, which has front and rear sensors.

The 2021 Ram 2500 is a hard-working pickup truck that offers lots of reliable mechanical features. This heavy-duty model also boasts premium amenities for up to six occupants.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Ram 2500 4WD:

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Ram 2500 4WD invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)

Note: All Ram 2500 4WD MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
