Trims and Features
The spacious cabin of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas has seating for up to seven passengers in comfortable, supportive seats. In fact, the third row is large enough for two adults to sit comfortably, a rarity among midsize SUVs. The Atlas can accommodate up to five child safety seats. The upscale, minimal interior has a sophisticated aesthetic with real metal and wood accents. You can access up to 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space with both rows folded; split-folding second and third rows provide plenty of versatility.
The base model of the Atlas is equipped with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration controlled by a 6.5-inch touchscreen. It also has a six-speaker audio system, two-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights, and a rearview camera.
The Atlas Launch Edition adds an upgraded V6 engine, a panoramic sunroof, a larger touchscreen with voice recognition, and satellite radio. It also features an automatic post-collision braking system.
Upgrade to the SE trim for faux leather upholstery, real leather trim, heated front seats with power adjustability for the driver, an upgraded sound system, two additional USB ports, keyless entry, and push-button start. Driver assistance features include blind spot and rear cross-traffic alert. Add the Technology package to this trim to enjoy three-zone automatic climate control, remote start, a remote power liftgate, and even more driver assistance features that include an alert when you begin to move out of your lane, forward collision braking, and adaptive cruise control.
The SEL trim adds a power-adjustable passenger seat and memory settings for the driver, along with parking sensors.
Opt for the fully loaded SEL Premium trim to enjoy standard all-wheel drive, VW's 12.3-inch Digital Cockpit instrument cluster, real leather upholstery, LED taillights, climate-controlled front seats and heated rear seats and steering wheel, Fender premium 12-speaker audio, navigation with real-time condition updates, a 360-degree camera, and automatic high beams.
Two possible engines provide plenty of power for 2018 Volkswagen Atlas drivers. Choose between a 235-horsepower turbo-four and a 276-hp V6, both matched with an eight-speed automatic. The former gets an EPA-estimated 22/26 city/highway miles per gallon, compared with 18/25 with the V6. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can opt for VW's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system on the V6 for selectable driving modes that can tackle inclement weather and tough terrain. Properly equipped, the Atlas can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas has earned the best possible safety ratings from both the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute on Highway Safety.
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Volkswagen Atlas invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here.)
Note: All Volkswagen Atlas MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
