Chevrolet Lease Guides:
Chevrolet Tahoe Overview:

Chevrolet makes a big statement with its latest edition of the Chevrolet Tahoe. The full SUV market is fiercely competitive, and Chevrolet doesn't hold back. The phrase bigger is better accurately describes the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Continue reading to find out how the 2021 Chevy Tahoe measures up to competition.

2020 vs. 2021: What's the Difference?

The Chevrolet was due a brand new design, and the 2021 edition delivers. The new model features a bolder and truck-looking design. But don't be fooled by the boxy exterior. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is more powerful, quieter, and more refined than its pick-up version. A quick look inside reveals the giant 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The leather-trimmed seats combine with a soft-touch dash to give it a clean look. Buyers wheel options range from 18-inch wheels to 22-inch wheels. Other features vary, depending on the trim.

What Do the Various Trim Levels Offer?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe comes in six different trim levels. These include the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. The standard engine on all the trims is a dutiful 5.3-liter V8 engine. There are other more powerful engine options available, depending on the trim. Here is more of what each of these trims has to offer.

Chevrolet Tahoe LS

Despite being the cheapest in the lineup, the Tahoe LS is the only trim large enough to carry nine passengers. It also comes fully stocked with the latest entertainment features, like Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, a 10.2-inch touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Convenience features in the LS include Keyless entry, automated climate control, and power-adjustable front passenger seats. Buyers also get to enjoy some driver-assist features, like rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and the GM'S Teen Driver feature. Owners can add more safety features if they purchase the Driver alert package.

Chevrolet Tahoe LT

The Tahoe comes with all the features highlighted in the base trim. However, there are a few noteworthy additions. The added features include an upgraded interior with leather upholstery. Better tech such wireless charging, hands-free lift gate and auto-dimming rear-view mirror are also added. The LT also comes with a nine-speaker audio system and driver seats with memory settings. More upgrades can be added by purchasing additional packages.

Chevrolet Tahoe RST

The RST is very similar to the LT trim. However, some of the features generally reserved for premium trims are added. The first feature that stands out is the 22-inch wheels that add a sporty look. Other added features are a unique front fascia, black exterior trim, and special RST seats. Like the LT, the RST seats eight passengers. Safety features include tire pressure warning, stability control, and hill start assist.

Chevrolet Tahoe Z71

The Tahoe Z71 is quite similar to the RST except for a few performance upgrades. Added features include a standard four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case, premium suspension, all-terrain tires, and hill descent control. The Z71 is the only trim that doesn't have an optional rear-wheel-drive configuration. There are available upgrade packages for this trim.

Chevrolet Tahoe Premier

The Tahoe Premier marks the entry into the top premium trims in style. Here, the rear-wheel-drive makes a comeback, providing options to buyers. The flexibility doesn't end there. The buyer also has a choice between the standard 5.3 and the 6.2-liter V8 engines, alongside other features, like 20-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, and 12-way power-adjustable front seats. Buyers can still get more upgrades by getting the premium package.

Chevrolet Tahoe High Country

The Tahoe High Country is the headliner of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe lineup. As expected, this trim comes with some exclusive features. This is the only trim that comes equipped with a more powerful 420-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine, for starters. Besides all the safety and convenience features in the other trims, the High Country also comes with surround-view parking, rear pedestrian alert, and a heads-up display.

Which Trim is Right for Me?

Individual needs and preferences play a big part when choosing the right trim. Another dimension to consider is the budget. As is often the case, the midterms offer the best value for money. The RST looks quite flashy with those 22-inch wheels. However, the Z71 is better equipped to handle off-roading adventures. The additional safety features also give it an edge over the RST. But if one has the means, they should go for the Tahoe High Country.

What Kind of Technology Does It Have?

The Chevrolet Tahoe 2021 comes with some of the latest techs on the market. The 10.2-inch touchscreen and navigation offers excellent graphics and a simple interface. The infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition to the multiple charging ports, the top trims come with wireless charging. Things get better when it comes to safety features. The 2021 Chevy Tahoe offers pedestrian alert, rearview cameras, cruise control, blind-spot monitor, and lane-keep assist.

How Does It Perform?

Considering its monstrous size, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe acceleration of 0-60 in 7.7 seconds is impressive. The addition of independent rear suspensions, the standard 10-speed automatic transmission, and the powerful V8 engine combine to produce a smooth ride. However, the towing capacity reduces due to the Tahoe's extra weight. When it comes to fuel economy, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe manages a respectable combined EPA rating of 18mpg. This is better than some of its closest rivals, such as the Ford Expedition.

Is It Safe and Reliable?

Currently, both the NHTSA and the IIHS are yet to test the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. You can expect the Tahoe to equal or exceed its four star rating from the previous year's test results. Additionally, there's a complimentary maintenance and a competitive warranty in case of any issues.

What's the Interior Like?

The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is a dedicated hauler of people and cargo. Even adults can ride on the last row without any discomfort, thanks to extra legroom. Creative storage solutions are spread on the dashboard, center stack, and door pockets. The seats are stable but supportive, and the buttons are evenly spaced. However, the interior could do with less hard plastics.

What are the Alternatives to this Model?

Overall, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe succeeds where many have failed. However, it doesn't hurt to look at other alternatives. The closest alternatives are the GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, and its corporate twin, the Chevrolet Suburban.
