Jeep Gladiator Overview:

2020 vs 2021: What's the Difference?

The new Jeep Gladiator is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that buyers are consumed with. Giving a new look to the reputable Jeep brand, the Gladiator is a work of art that easily travels off-road. Despite its popularity in 2020, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator came in strong with a myriad of changes for consumers to enjoy. One of the best improvements of the 2021 Jeep Gladiator is the addition of a powerful diesel engine that was expected prior to its roll-out. Not only did the Jeep Gladiator get a new engine option in 2021, but the pre-existing V6 also received a horsepower upgrade. Capable of producing up to 260hp now, the Gladiator's V6 is more capable than ever before. Though there have been a few more subtle changes in the 2021 Jeep Gladiator, these are the most substantial improvements we have seen so far.

What Do the Various Trim Levels Offer?

Not only does the 2021 Jeep Gladiator offer six different trim levels to choose from, but it also incorporates four special edition packages for you to consider. The standard trims of the 2021 Jeep Gladiator include the Sport, the Sport S, the Willys, the Overland, the Rubicon, and the Mojave. You may notice that many of these trims are carried over from other Jeep models creating a sense of comfort and resonating with buyers' familiarity.

The base model Jeep Gladiator Sport is known for its off-road prowess. Despite its truck setup, this trim boasts chrome side steps with step assist, deep tinted windows, and a choice between a soft and hard top that makes it perfect for playing off-road. The Sport S adds in larger all-terrain tires, an available audio or safety package, and heavy duty Dana axles. As a signature off-road model, the Willys offers standard power-heated mirrors, a premium front bumper, and Willys-specific decals.

Moving into the top trims, the Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave are quite impressive. All come with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, while only the Overland and Rubicon have the chance to upgrade to an available EcoDiesel. An 8-speed automatic transmission upgrade accompanies the Overland and Rubicon, while the Mojave relies solely on a 6-speed. Yet, the Mojave offers a signature E-locker rear axle and standard orange tow hooks that the others do not.

Which Trim is Right for Me?

All 2021 Jeep Gladiator models were designed and setup for all-terrain navigation and with the purpose of having a good time. How far you take the personalization of your Jeep Gladiator model is completely up to you. While the Sport and Sport S offer more of a bare bone feel, the Willys takes it up a notch and incorporates signature elements that are specific to this infamous model. The Overland bridges a gap between functional and premium before moving into the upscale Rubicon and Mojave trims. If you are looking for power and performance, the Overland and Rubicon models are the way to go. Yet, if you are looking for a signature model that will be known based upon its looks and amenities, the Willys or Mojave fit the bill.

What Kind of Technology Does it Have?

Just like everything else the 2021 Jeep Gladiator incorporates into its design, the technology of this vehicle is no less sophisticated. A standard 5.0-inch touchscreen that comes standard on some models can be upgraded to an 8.4-inch layout with navigation integration. Additional plug-ins and outlets are also available to create extra exterior enhancement power sources. Light bars and other accessories rely on this technology to operate. An entire package, known as the Cargo Management Package, includes a variety of tech elements that include a 115-volt outlet in the bed and a 400-watt power inverter in the cabin. An available subwoofer and optional portable speakers also impress some buyers who are focused on the audio quality of this modern, off-road truck.

How Does It Perform?

Made to forge through mud, snow, and sand, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator has great confidence in its performance abilities. With two different engine options, the capability of this all-terrain truck can be conformed to whatever is required of it. Towing nearly 7,700 pounds at its best, you can expect at least at least 4,000 pounds of towing power in its standard model. A unique Trac-Lok anti-spin differential helps the 2021 Jeep Gladiator maintain its grip on rough surfaces, while a Command-Trac four-wheel drive system gets you out of the toughest situations.

Is It Safe and Reliable?

Due to its inclusion of a wide array of attributes that were design for all-weather travel, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator is undeniably reliable. Though it has not been rated for its crash-worthiness or overall safety, we expect these elements to follow this trend. Along with a front-facing camera in some models, like the Rubicon, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator offers a plethora of driver assistive safety features. While features like lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking are available and not standard, the ability to pay extra for them is a benefit for buyers.

What's the Interior Like?

Not only is the inside of the 2021 Jeep Gladiator different from other Jeep models, but it is also prepared to be utilized in the harshest conditions. With a push button start that is waterproof and a removable body and roof, you instantly know this truck is different from any other model. Plenty of storage for small and large items prepares the 2021 Jeep Gladiator for long road trips or days out in the mud. In fact, locking compartments ensure security for your items no matter where you go. A two-tone interior design grabs attention, while durable upholstery ensures the Gladiator's interior will last long-term.

What are the Alternatives to this Model?

There is nothing quite like the 2021 Jeep Gladiator available on the market. There are, however, other non-traditional truck models that could be considered as alternatives. The Ford Bronco is a revamped model that recently re-entered this brand's lineup with the intent to actively compete with the Jeep Gladiator. In addition, the Toyota Tacoma is a more traditional truck model that does the same.
