The Chevrolet Camaro has been a premier name among sports cars since 1967. Chevrolet will try to continue this legacy with the 2021 model of the legendary vehicle. The latest Camaro will be available in two different body styles and with four powertrain options. Buyers will also have to choose from eight different trim levels.

Recent years have seen a return of the classic muscle car. Sports cars of the 60s and 70s were all about raw power. This trend sadly went away for a couple of decades before roaring back to showrooms and car lots in the 2000s. The 2021 Camaro offers a model with an astounding 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. It can get you from 0 to 60 miles-per-hour in just 3.5 seconds.

The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro has the muscle and the looks to match. It's a sleek, aggressive-looking car that is sure to turn some heads. It offers performance for the driving enthusiast that is hard to match. There are a lot of options here for a prospective buyer. We will take a close look at every trim level and how they compare with one another.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS vs 1LT Trim Levels. What is the Difference?

The base-model Camaro is called the 1LS. It is only available as a two-door coupe. Every higher trim level is also available as a convertible. All models of the 2021 Camaro are rear-wheel-drive vehicles. The 1LS comes equipped with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine. This powertrain produces around 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The 1LS has a 6-speed manual transmission. It offers a combined fuel-economy rating of 22 miles-per-gallon. While the 1LT comes stock with the same engine and transmission. Chevy also gives buyers the option for a V6 in this trim level. This upgrade will boost the Camaro's horsepower up to 335 with 284 pound-feet of torque.

While both trim levels offer solid performance, the jump up to the V6 is quite noticeable. The more-powerful engine also comes with an upgraded, 10-speed automatic transmission. If you prefer paddle shifters to manually move through the gears, this can be added on to either trim level as well.

Both models come with Chevrolet's Stabilitrak stability system with traction control. They both have a driver-mode selector with modes for Tour, Sport and Ice/Snow. Higher trim levels also get a Track mode for quick acceleration. This, as the name suggests, is intended for drivers who take their Camaro out to the racetrack.

On the outside, both trims come equipped with 18-inch aluminum wheels. LED Daytime Running Lamps are standard across all models. The 1LT gives buyers a ton of options that are unavailable on the 1LS. There are countless choices for wheels, spokes, tires and rear spoilers.

Some interior highlights for the 1LS include a power-adjustable driver's seat and Automatic Climate Control. The 1LT adds power adjustments for the front-passenger seat as well. Both cars come with a 6-speaker audio system. The infotainment center has a 7-inch color touchscreen. Bluetooth technology allows for streaming from two devices at a time.

The infotainment system on both trims offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Power windows and locks are standard for every trim. Both of these models get leather-wrapped steering wheels and shift knobs. Every trim comes equipped with a Chevrolet Rear-Vision Camera for a better view of your surroundings.

These two trim levels offer a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. They both share the same airbag system. Chevrolet uses 3-point seat belts for every seating position. All Chevrolet vehicles come with their Teen Driver technology. This system allows the car's owner to set guidelines for younger drivers. It even provides reports so you can view your teen's driving habits.

There aren't too many big differences here. The main difference is that the 1LT trim gives buyers more optional packages and other choices. One example is the option for an upgraded infotainment system with a premium audio system by Bose.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT vs 2LT Trims. What is the Difference?

The 1LT and 2LT trim levels are even more similar than the 1LS and 1LT. Mechanically, they are virtually identical. Both come in coupe or convertible versions. Both have the exact same engine and transmission-system options. The main difference here is simply some added features and extra options.

The interiors are nearly identical. The 2LT comes with more color options such as Adrenaline Red and Ceramic White. You get the same infotainment system and audio setup in both models. The choices for upgrades are still the same too. The 2LT front seats have the same upholstery and power adjustments as the 1LT, but they now come with heating and ventilation.

Moving up to the 2LT trim level gets you Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control. The safety features and equipment are exactly the same on these two trim packages. Again, the primary differences here lie in the available options and customization choices. Most of these are cosmetic in nature.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT vs 3LT Trims. What is the Difference?

The 3LT is again mechanically the same as the previous trim. Both trims come standard with the 2.0-liter engine. Both can be upgraded to the V6 if you so desire. On the outside, one would have a hard time telling these two cars apart if not for the trim badges. On the inside, the 3LT gets a couple more color choices such as an all-black interior.

The 3LT is all about the extra convenience features. The steering wheel is now heated with this trim package. You get an upgraded sound system by Bose that features nine speakers. There is also an upgraded driver-info display. The 3LT also comes with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System with a larger, 8-inch touchscreen.

Moving up to the 3LT gets you wireless charging for your smartphones and other devices. The driver's seat now has memory settings. This is a great feature if the Camaro will have multiple drivers. Other extras include Forward Collision Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and sensors that aid in parking.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 3LT vs LT1 Trim Levels. What is the Difference?

The first thing to note about the LT1 is that it goes back to the feature set of the 1LT. The seats and interiors are the same. The options on the inside are identical. Both come equipped with the same safety features and driver-assist technology. The differences here are mostly mechanical.

The LT1 is like a supped-up version of the 1LT. It comes with a number of performance enhancements. On the outside, you get larger, 20-inch wheels. The wheels are aluminum and come in a silver paint scheme. The main reason to choose an LT1 is that it's the first trim level to offer the big V8 engine.

The LT1 is the most affordable way to get your hands on a V8-equipped Camaro. The 6.2-liter, V8 engine cranks out 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. The brakes get upgraded to a Brembo set. This way you get more stopping power to match all of that additional horsepower.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro LT1 vs 1SS. What is the Difference?

The LT1 and 1SS both come with the same 6.2-liter, V8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission. An automatic-transmission system with paddle shifters is available as an option. Both trim levels come in coupe or convertible configurations.

The 1SS gets an extra-capacity cooling system. This helps the car to stay cool to maintain optimal performance. The system includes a cooler for the engine coolant, the transmission fluid and for the rear differential, among other components.

The brakes get upgraded again for this trim level with a special SS set by Brembo. These anti-lock brakes are installed up front and in back. On the outside, the 1SS gets 20-inch, 5-spoke wheels and a rear spoiler. On the inside, the 1SS comes with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System. The visors get illuminated mirrors. All of the safety features and equipment are the same between these two models.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS vs 2SS Trims. What is the Difference?

There isn't a lot to cover with the 2SS trim package. It adds on features and extras to the 1SS in the same way that the 2LT did for the 1LT. In fact, it has almost identical features to the 3LT trim level. The main difference being that it comes equipped with the 6.2-liter, V8 engine.

When compared directly to the 1SS, the 2SS is mechanically the same. You basically get the performance of the 1SS with the comfort and convenience features of the 3LT here. You get the upgraded sound system, the Dual-Zone Climate Control and all of the same safety features as before.

Compare the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS vs ZL1. What is the Difference?

The ZL1 trim is the crown jewel in the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro lineup. It gives you the best of what Chevrolet has to offer. This includes upgrades to both performance features and convenience features. The most notable change is the inclusion here of a supercharged, 6.2-liter, V8 DI engine. This power plant produces a whopping 650 horsepower with 650 pound-feet of torque.

The ZL1 can get you to 60 miles-per-hour in just 3.5 seconds. This is a car that is suitable for the racetrack. It even has a Track Mode option for the driving-mode selector. The brakes get upgraded yet again for this trim level. They're still made by Brembo but are optimized for the ZL1.

The ZL1 adds on Launch Control to minimize wheel spin and optimize acceleration off the starting line. This trim also gets Magnetic Ride Control. This technology monitors each specific wheel to help maintain a smooth, comfortable ride. You get a better ride quality and better handling on a wide range of surfaces and terrains.

The ZL1 also includes dual-mode exhaust and a performance-tuned suspension system. On the inside, you get special Recaro bucket seats. The pedals are upgraded to alloy sport models. You get suede, microfiber-wrapped steering wheels and shift knobs in the ZL1. All of the top safety features and driver-assist technology makes a return for this trim package as well.

Which Trim to Choose?

The I4 turbocharged engine is a capable performer. It actually produces more horsepower than many Camaro models of the 80s and 90s. It's suitable for anyone who just wants the looks of a Camaro in a practical, daily driver. The V6 is a monster of an engine that can keep up with just about anything on the road today. Camaros equipped with the V6 strike a nice balance between horsepower and fuel efficiency.

At the end of the day, the best reason to own a Camaro is the power and performance. For this reason, it is recommended to get a model equipped with a V8. It hearkens back to the glory days of what makes a muscle car an actual muscle car. The LT1 is the most affordable way to get a V8 Camaro. The 1SS, however, may be a better bargain. It comes with some performance upgrades and other extras, such as a better infotainment system.
