What 2019 Infiniti QX80 Trim Should you Buy? What is the Difference Between Trims?

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 is a full-size SUV with four doors and a rear lift-gate for the cargo area. This vehicle was built for passenger transportation and cargo hauling. It gives you a full three rows of seats. The Infiniti QX80 can transport up to seven or eight average-sized adults. The rear seats can be configured to allow for more cargo space too. With all of the seats in their default positions, you have about 16.6 cubic-feet of storage space. With the seats properly configured, you can extend the cargo area up to a whopping 95.1 cubic-feet of space.

All versions of the 2019 Infiniti QX80 come equipped with the same powertrain. Every model gets a 5.6-liter V-8 engine with 32 valves. The engine block is made of an aluminum alloy for strength and weight reduction. The pistons are coated with a dry film to reduce wear and tear. This V-8 cranks out 400 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and produces 410 pounds-feet of torque. Acceleration is great in this SUV in spite of its large size and heavy weight. It can get you from 0 to 60 miles-per-hour in just 6.3 seconds. The QX80 never feels sluggish even when loaded down with passengers and cargo.

Infiniti's V-8 engine comes paired with a seven-speed automatic-transmission system. This transmission offers overdrive and an auto-manual system. This allows you to manually shift through the gears if you need to. That's an important feature to have in a large vehicle that's used to move around heavy loads. The transmission offers snow and tow modes that alter the throttle reactions and shifting points for those specific driving conditions. It also offers adaptive shifting. This means that the system actually learns how you drive and adjusts its gear shifting accordingly.

In addition to hauling people and goods, the Infiniti QX80 can also tow a boat or trailer along for the ride. You can tow up to 8,500 pounds when your QX80 is properly equipped. The specific number will vary depending on which model and trim level you choose. You can get a 2019 Infiniti QX80 in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive versions. The all-wheel drive model is equipped with a computer-operated transfer case. You get multiple settings to choose from such as Auto, 4WD High and 4WD Low.

Infiniti has equipped the QX80 with a fantastic suspension system. This is an independent double-wishbone system up front and in the rear. All trim levels give you the option to add on a proactive, hydraulic body-motion control system for the suspension. All models get the same four-wheel, four-channel anti-lock disc brakes. Since all models share the same engine, they also share the same fuel-economy rating. You should get around 13 miles-per-gallon in the city and 19 miles-per-gallon during highway driving.

It's no secret that the 2019 Infiniti QX80 is a large vehicle. The overall length of this SUV is 210.2 inches. It has a wheelbase of 121.1 inches. The Infiniti QX80 is 79.9 inches wide and stands at 75.8 inches high when counting the roof rails. This behemoth weighs in at around 5,676 to 5,921 pounds depending on the model and configuration. The fuel tank has a capacity of 26 gallons. The Infiniti QX80 uses premium gasoline as fuel.

So far, we have mainly discussed the features that are the same across all models. The 2019 Infiniti QX80 comes in only two different trim levels. Infiniti calls these trim packages the Luxe and the Limited. The differences here are mostly in the comfort, convenience and luxury features with some minor cosmetic differences. There are a few safety features that differ depending on which trim you choose too. We will compare these two trim levels to see what each one has to offer. This should help you to decide which trim package might be the best one for you.

Compare the 2019 Infiniti QX80 Luxe vs Limited - What is the difference?

The Limited trim package gives you everything the Luxe provides except where an upgrade has been made. One area in which you get more options for the Luxe is in your choice of body color. The Luxe trim package gives you nine paint colors to choose from. The Limited cuts this back to only five colors. The choices are mostly classy and conservative with variations on old favorites such as white, black and gray.

You can also choose front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive for the Luxe while the Limited only comes in the all-wheel drive variation. This makes sense, though, as the all-wheel drive option is superior. This gives you much better traction and thus better performance on slick pavement. It turns an already great SUV into a capable, all-weather vehicle. It even gives the 2019 Infiniti QX80 some respectable off-road capabilities.

When it comes to traction, both all-wheel drive models get four-wheel active brake limited slip. The front-wheel drive Luxe has two-wheel active brake limited slip. Both trim packages give you hill-start assist. The Luxe trim comes equipped with 20 X 8 inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The Limited gets a set of larger 22 X 8 inch wheels. These are made of a dark machine-finished and forged aluminum alloy. Both trims come sporting all-weather tires.

On the outside of the QX80, you get LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights for both trims. The headlights have an automatic on/off feature. The Limited trim adds on an adaptive front lighting system with an automatic leveler for the headlights. The Limited also gives you headlight washers. The running boards on the Limited trim get some lighting underneath to increase you visibility of them in the dark. They also get stainless-steel cap with rubber grips for protection of the boards and for better traction.

Both models of the Infiniti QX80 feature a power moon-roof. You also get a power-operated lift-gate. The Luxe gets some standard roof-rails. The Limited has satin chrome roof-rails and crossbars. All versions of this SUV get rear tinted windows and UV-reducing solar glass all around. Power windows and locks are standard. You can also remotely access these features from the intelligent key fob.

The exterior mirrors have power adjustments and a heating feature on both trims. They also offer integrated turn signals and a reverse tilt-down feature. A rain sensor can automatically engage the intermittent windshield wipers when needed. You also get a rear window wiper with an automatic feature and a timer. Some exterior cosmetic differences can be found in the Luxe and Limited badges. The Limited also gets some satin chrome touches here and there. Last of all, the Limited gives you a smart rear-view mirror for a better view.

Moving on the to interior, the Luxe gives you a nice, tri-zone climate-control system. The Limited upgrades this to an improved system that has an enhanced filter, auto circulation and plasmacluster technology. Both trim levels are packed with small-item storage options. You get a massive glove box, overhead compartments, pockets and plenty of cup holders. These are almost identical for both trim packages.

The Limited interior gets some embossed logos throughout the interior. You get a few more flourishes like foot lighting for the second and third rows and improved lighting overall. The floor mats are upgraded for more rugged models for the Limited. They also come sporting a metal logo.

Both trims give you 10-way power-adjustable driver seats. The front passenger gets 8-way adjustments. They both have leather-appointed upholstery. The Limited uses a higher quality, semi-aniline leather. Similarly, they both have leather-wrapped steering wheels, but the Limited uses a better quality. The Limited also adds in heated second-row seats and climate-controlled front seats.

The Luxe trim gets you a fantastic 13-speaker sound system by Bose. The Limited ups the game here with 15 speakers and a 5.1 digital surround-sound system. Both systems give you AM/FM radio, a CD player, MP3 player capabilities and two sub-woofers. You get connectivity to the infotainment center via Bluetooth technology or USB ports. The Limited gives you an HDMI video/audio port and two sets of headphones for some quiet entertainment for your passengers.

When it comes to safety, the front seat passenger and driver get front and side airbags. Sensors can detect how much inflation is needed by the seat-belt use and weight in the seats. This system will actually even deactivate the passenger airbags when not needed. All three rows of passengers get a curtain airbag places specifically for maximum head protection. The front seats also get active head restraints.

Infiniti engineers have designed the frame and body of the 2019 QX80 for maximum safety. They use a zone body construction with a reinforced passenger compartment. They also use front and rear crumple zones for added protection. Both trims also get emergency brakes with pedestrian detection. Rear child-safety locks and reinforced brake-force distribution round out some of the more notable standard features in this category.

The Limited trim package gains you some additional driver assists and safety features. There are extra sensors and a blind-spot warning. You get adaptive cruise control and backup collision intervention. You even get a lane-departure warning and a system to help you stay in the proper lane. Distance-control assist helps you to maintain the perfect and safe distance from the car in front of you.

Which One Should You Choose?

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 is a fantastic full-size SUV. It strikes a great balance between function, utility and luxury. You get top-level performance and great steering dynamics. You also have massive amounts of storage space and room for passengers. It can even tow and venture off-road with the best of them. All of that usefulness is wrapped in a luxury package that you won't mind spending hours in.

The interior of the Infiniti QX80 is comfortable and quiet. Infiniti has done a great job of mitigating any engine or road noise. The seats are supportive and comfortable. The interior fit and finish is excellent and screams quality and luxury. There are some great entertainment and convenience features packed into this vehicle as well. It also has all of the modern, high-tech safety features you could want to protect you and your loved ones.

It's worth noting that there is a significant bump in the price when you move up from the Luxe to the Limited trim. It is, however, going to worth the additional cost for most drivers. You get an array of important driver assists and safety features for moving up to the top-tier trim. You also get even better seats and a fantastic upgrade to the infotainment system. The benefits of the added features more than make up for the difference in cost. The Limited trim is going to be the best pick for most consumers.
