Subaru Price Guides:
2018 Subaru Impreza Overview:
Designed to offer great traction in every type of weather condition, the 2018 Subaru Impreza is the only compact car in the segment to boast a standard AWD system. It also remains a great option for the drivers who are seeking a safe and affordable ride. Although the Impreza may not be the quickest car in the segment, you'll be pleasantly surprised by its nimble driving dynamics. Meanwhile, technology lovers will be impressed with Subaru’s updated Starlink infotainment system.

What’s New for 2018?

Only a small number of changes were made to the 2018 Subaru Impreza. Aside from the base model, all of the other trims now come standard with headlights that automatically activate when using the wipers. Prices also increase just slightly for the 2018 model year.

What Styles Does It Come In?

The 2018 Subaru Impreza gives you two body styles to choose from. While the sedan version gives you the security of a trunk, the hatchback’s extra cargo space will appeal to some drivers. If you need to haul around your family, the Impreza’s five-passenger cabin will provide the necessary space. Every trim benefits from Subaru’s exceelent Symmetrical AWD system.

What Are the Available Trims?

  • Priced at roughly $18,500, the base Impreza proves to be a very strong value. Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enable smartphone users to easily link their smartphone to the infotainment system. You will also receive popular high-tech equipment such as Bluetooth and a backup camera. Like the higher trim levels, the base model is powered by a 152-horsepower engine. Drivers who don’t prefer a manual transmission can opt for an automatic CVT.

  • Heated front seats and an upgraded sound system come on the Premium trim. You can also outfit the Impreza Premium with advanced safety innovations like pre-collision automatic braking and blind-spot detection. Automatic reverse braking is an exclusive safety feature that you won’t find on the Honda Civic or the Mazda Mazda3.
  • If you are looking to experience crisper handling, the Impreza Sport is the best trim to get. Sports-tuned suspension dampers and a torque-vectoring system help it to deliver a more athletic performance on the road. A rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels also highlight this trim’s sporty theme. While satellite radio comes standard on the Impreza Sport, an amplified Harman Kardon sound system is available as an option.

  • The top-of-the-line Limited model’s leather upholstery gives it more upscale appearance. It’s the only trim that features automatic climate control. When traveling at night, the Limited model’s adaptive LED headlights will help uncover obstacles hidden in the darkness.

How Does It Drive?

From a performance standpoint, the 2018 Subaru Impreza is among the slowest cars in the class. Nevertheless, its easy-to-drive nature will win over a lot of people. A top-notch braking system helps inspire confidence in all driving situations. If you don’t mind a stiffer ride, the sharp-handling Sport trim may get your attention. Even when taking an extended highway trip, the Impreza’s well-bolstered seats will keep your body relaxed.

Is It Good on Gas?

The Impreza’s standard AWD system definitely doesn’t hurt its ability to offer good gas mileage. While models equipped with a manual gearbox can return a combined 27 mpg, CVT-equipped Imprezas are rated to deliver a combined 32 mpg. You can also safely fill the tank with regular unleaded fuel.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Subaru Impreza

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Subaru Impreza invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Subaru Impreza MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
