Trends are seen in several functions throughout everyday life. Trends can be found in the latest diets, fashion looks and even on the roadways across America. Compact crossovers have been all the rage from young college students finishing the last final of their career to parents scrambling from an after school recital to a ball game.

A close relative to the compact crossover is the subcompact crossover: an even smaller vehicle that offers a good alternative for consumers looking for something more affordable than a compact crossover. One of the most popular of these subcompact crossovers is the Ford EcoSport.

The 2020 EcoSport is surprisingly spacious for its small size, and it will face the road with available all-wheel-drive in all four of its trim levels. It is nimble, so it can easily fit into tight spaces in the city or parking spaces in the suburbs. The infotainment system featured in the vehicle is easy to use and quite stylish--a pleasant change compared to several infotainment systems seen in today's market.

The 2020 Ford EcoSport may not be a high-end luxury sports car or a vehicle capable of hauling the whole soccer team to and from practice. Despite what it's not the EcoSport offers value to its drivers in other ways. The available trim levels are the EcoSport S, SE, Titanium, and SES. All offer some similarities and differences that make it worthwhile getting to know them.

Some vehicles make it difficult for a consumer to maximize their budget with the purchase because of limited specification and trim offerings. Ford does an impressive job with the 2020 EcoSport by making some options available within all its trims. Remote start is a stand-alone option for all of them, and apart from the priciest SES which comes standard with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and all-wheel-drive, one has the option to upgrade the other trims with this feature.

If considering a Ford EcoSport, be familiar with all of the information surrounding the various trim levels. A consumer doesn't want to get caught paying a few thousand dollars in extra spending to have something they don't need installed. Buying a vehicle is about fulfilling a need. The EcoSport is ready.

Compare the 2020 Ford EcoSport S Vs. SE: Trim Levels.  What is the Difference?

Every 2020 Ford EcoSport is going to fit five people in two rows. Like most of its peers, the EcoSport isn't going to offer loads of cabin space as a subcompact SUV. That said, it is remarkably roomy for a vehicle of its pint-size. There are 20.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats alone. Fold the rear seats down and this jumps to 50 cubic feet. Useful for storing bags and other needed equipment on the go.

The standard engine that comes in the EcoSport is the turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The engine is linked with a six-speed automatic transmission with a front-wheel drive. The 123-horsepower rating from the engine won't win any drag races, but how often is that occurring in any everyday vehicle anyway?

Looking at the base trim level in the EcoSport S, one can be fairly pleased with how the vehicle is equipped. The available all-wheel-drive is nice, as are the amenities, including the easy to use infotainment system.

The SYNC infotainment system within the 2020 Ford EcoSport is a good place to start as far as entertainment in the cabin is concerned. The EcoSport S has a 4.2-inch display with two USB ports and a six-speaker audio system. A wifi hotspot is also available in the base trim making longer commutes more tolerable for bored passengers. The basic technology is fine in the trim, but worth the upgrade if funds allow.

The S features 16-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera, blind-spot mirrors and cruise control. Find comfort on the cloth upholstery and four-way manually adjustable front seats. Part of the allure of the EcoSport S is its modest price, but perhaps one can go further in another trim. The SE features more if a consumer is willing to go down that road.

Comfort comes custom in the SE, especially in the cold of winter thanks to the heated front seats. Climate control is automated, meaning that all passengers in the cabin can feel at ease on the roads. The shift knob and steering wheel are leather-wrapped, and the driver information display is expanded. Similarly, the infotainment system takes a step forward in the 2020 Ford EcoSport SE.

While the SYNC interface is fine in the base trim, the SYNC 3 is evolved. The touchscreen jumps to eight inches in the SE. Built-in satellite radio offers more for the passengers. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality connect easily with the SYNC 3 infotainment system.

The EcoSport SE offers more in terms of performance. The LED running lights make the roads visible throughout even the darkest of distances. One will be pleased in the winter with the windshield wiper de-icer and foglights. Keyless entry and ignition are also seen in the SE. Like the S, one can upgrade to all-wheel-drive if inclined.

The SE has an optional Convenience Package that further enhances the features, especially in the safety department. The package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. A navigation system makes driving easier. Ambient lighting and a seven-speaker audio system add to the comforts.

It's not uncommon for a basic trim level to lack amenities. For what it's worth, the EcoSport S is upgraded enough to be a fine starting point in the subcompact SUV category. The SE offers enough upgrades to make it worth the extra bit of spending.

Compare the 2020 Ford EcoSport SE Vs. Titanium Trims:  What is the Difference?

The first two trim levels of the 2020 Ford EcoSport offer cloth upholstery. The cloth is certainly enhanced in the SE compared to the base trim, but the Titanium takes it up a notch. The leather-trimmed seats in the Titanium make you feel a bit splashy compared to the SE. A ten-speaker B&O Play audio system with HD radio is equipped to serenade the ears of the riders.

The Titanium builds upon what a consumer would find in the Convenience Package of the SE. It adds chrome to the exterior rims, 17-inch wheels, heated mirrors, metallic bumper accents, heated steering wheel and mirrors, automated wipers and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The vehicle is as close to luxury as one will find in a 2020 Ford EcoSport.

Like the EcoSport S and SE, the Titanium comes standard with a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive; all three can upgrade to the available all-wheel-drive model that comes with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Both engines available in the Ford EcoSport are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The seats heat up quickly and climate control is certainly nice in both these trims. And while the Titanium assuredly adds a swankier feel, those who can survive without leather-trimmed seats may get the best bang for their buck with the EcoSport SE trim. Life's about preference.

Compare the Ford EcoSport Titanium Vs. SES Trim Levels:  What is the Difference?

If there were a sporty side of the Ford EcoSport, the SES would embody it. It is the only one of the four available trims that come standard with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with all-wheel-drive. The SES also comes standard with the contents featured in the available Convenience package, meaning added safety features and a navigation system.

A rear spoiler, sport-tuned suspension and black exterior elements add to the sporty feel of this trim. Like the Titanium, the SES comes with heated mirrors, automated wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror and a heated steering wheel. The leather seats in the SES have cloth inserts. One can opt for the Black Appearance Package of the SES which adds to the sporty feel with a spoiler, black roof and hood decal.

The EcoSport SES and Titanium are similarly priced, but one gets the more powerful engine standard in the more expensive option. The interior upgrades are otherwise very similar within the two specs. It's luxury versus a more sporty look when analyzing the key differences between the two most expensive 2020 Ford EcoSport trims. One has to like the more powerful engine with the four-wheel-drive coming standard, but all four trims can add this feature that is fueling a genuine inquiry.

Which Trim to Choose?

When it comes to an automobile, there's always a lot to analyze. The four trims from the EcoSport offer enough changes to consider each trim as a whole. Some upgrades are available across all of the 2020 EcoSport trims that include remote start and keyless start. Needs are going to be a major factor when deciding which of these four trims to choose.

Those looking for a plethora of safety features in the 2020 EcoSport won't exactly find many; the vehicle doesn't offer much, with the rearview camera and blind-spot monitoring among some of the few across all the trims. It is still a safe pick as The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the EcoSport a four out of five stars safety rating.

Needs are always met with budget restrictions. It's one of the most important stages of purchasing a vehicle. Setting a budget is exactly why it is important to get to know every trim level available in the EcoSPort, comparing offerings to the price. Value is the goal.

A consumer looking at the SES trim may be impressed with some of the more sporty features, especially the standard four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. For the price, does a consumer want the SES when any one of the trim levels can have the more powerful engine installed? The true value within the four trim levels comes from the S and the SE.

One can't deny the overall value of the S, especially those looking for a reasonably priced subcompact vehicle with updated features. It has decent cargo space for a subcompact SUV and offers fairly good performance at a frugal price. For a bit more, the SE gets the most for the investment.

It is the second most affordable of the four trims yet offers a real boost in quality. A consumer will get chic body-colored accents and roof rails for those adventures. Among other things, it comes with automatic climate control, something that works extremely well in the Ford EcoSport paired with the heated front seats.

Those worried about shortcomings with the standard three-cylinder engine in the SE can easily upgrade and still not pay the price of the SES. The added features available on the SE compared to the price make it the best model for one's investment.

The best overall model for one's money doesn't necessarily mean it is the right model for everybody. As aforementioned, needs dictate purchases. If one likes to feel refined while they steadily creep forward in traffic or go on a long drive to a far off town, the Titanium with its luxury sound system from B&O and leather upholstery may fill the void. Maybe one just wants a subcompact SUV for commuting ten miles to and from work each day. The modest price S would probably be the best bet in that situation.

Standard all-wheel-drive is always nice; one will find this, along with the more powerful engine in the SES. If drivers and passengers alike demand a vehicle with an easy to use infotainment interface, the Sync 3 is perfect. The SE not only features the Sync 3 standard, it has a bunch of other features that compare similarly to the more expensive trim levels without the heftier price tag.

The best scenario within the 2020 Ford EcoSport is to go with the most attractive option in terms of price and overall quality. The SE is stylish with its silver-painted wheels and body-colored accents. It has plenty of useful upgrades that mean that it is okay to steer away from the tempting base trim price.

The 8-inch touchscreen will provide plenty of clear feedback with its vivid interface. Upgrade to all-wheel drive and the more powerful engine to truly be impressed with the SE trim. One can't go wrong with a Ford. Those looking for a vehicle in the subcompact SUV category can be enthusiastic about many features of the EcoSport throughout its four trim levels.
