What's New for the 2018 Kia Sportage?
After its highly rated 2017 redesign, the Sportage sees few changes for the new model year beyond additional standard features and upgraded safety features across the lineup. The funky, youthful appearance that distinguished the Sportage from class rivals is retained for 2018.
Trims and Features
The 2018 Kia Sportage accommodates up to five passengers, with plenty of space for adults to stretch out in the reclining rear seats, a rare feature in the compact crossover class. Drivers will enjoy expansive visibility and luxurious appointments and materials. In addition to 31 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and more than 60 square feet overall, the Sportage has a hidden cargo hold under the floor.
The base model of the Sportage, the LX, has a five-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and a six-speaker stereo. It's also equipped with a rearview camera.
With the EX model, you'll enjoy leather upholstery, heated front seats, two-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and an enlarged touchscreen. It also features driver assistance technology in the form of blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Sportage SX Turbo features an upgraded engine (described below) along with a hands-free panoramic liftgate, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror, climate-controlled front seats, heated steering wheel, premium audio system, and 8-inch touchscreen with navigation. It also ups the safety ante with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and parking sensors in the front and rear.
The base powertrain for the 2018 Kia Sportage is a 181-horsepower four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. The top trim comes with a turbo-four that provides the power of 240 horses, making it one of the strongest compact crossovers available. You'll get an EPA-estimated 22/29 city/highway miles per gallon with the standard engine and 21/26 city/highway mpg with the upgrade. Drivers can choose between standard front-wheel drive or an all-wheel-drive system.
The 2018 Kia Sportage is a Top Safety Pick of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and has earned a five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration. In addition to the standard driver assistance systems on each trim, you can upgrade for even more advanced tech including automatic high beams, lane change assistance, and automatic pre-collision braking.
How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Kia Sportage
Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:
- Example: Base Kia Sportage invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
- What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.
Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)
Note: All Kia Sportage MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.
A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
