The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is a sporty mid-size SUV. The Blazer can seat up to five people rather comfortably. The 2LT and 3LT both share the same automatic 9-speed transmission. The V6 produces 308 hp with 270 lb-ft of torque.
Chevy has matched the robust V6 engine with a new 9-speed automatic transmission system built specifically for this powertrain. The RS comes in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive variations. The AWD system features an advanced twin-clutch setup, which can deliver torque independently to either rear wheel. Everywhere you look, there are details worth noting in the driver-centric interior. The RS models come with an extra 120-volt power outlet whilst the Driver Information Center gets upgraded to an 8-inch model. The RS also gets some nice ambient interior lighting. The multimedia systems get upgraded to the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System. This setup comes complete with a built-in navigation system.
With the new upgraded infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Auto Android will now work wirelessly. The system now comes with USB data ports up front and an extra auxiliary port with an SD card reader. Upgrading to the RS trim level also gets the buyer a 3-month free trial to SiriusXM satellite radio.
All of the safety features found on the 3LT trim level can also be found on the RS models. They both share the exact same driver-assist technology too. The RS does get an extra option in this category that's not available for the 3LT. This is the Chevrolet Safety Alert Seat. This feature gives feedback through vibrations to alert the driver of the direction of potential crashes.
Compare the RS vs Premier Trim. What is the difference?
The final trim level is called the Premier. This is an unusual model as Chevrolet lists it as the top trim level, though it doesn't really cost more than the RS. It also reverts back to the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This means a big drop in horsepower and weaker acceleration. The Premier makes up for this with a few extra comfort features, though most of these can be added on to the RS as options.
Speaking of options, the Premier has several that aren't available to the RS, though they'll add to the cost. These are mostly cosmetic in nature with extra choices for wheel design and color schemes. Chevrolet seems to be going for a model of the Blazer that's geared toward comfort and customization here. The exterior features some extra chrome trim here and there.
The front grille is unique on the Premier trim. The interior features are almost identical when comparing the Premier trim level to the RS trim. The Premier gets extra options for upholstery and color scheme. It's probably worth noting here that both models can be equipped with an optional sound system by Bose. This premium audio setup has eight speakers including a speaker in the center panel and a subwoofer.
Moving on to the safety features, there's again no difference between these two trim levels. They share the same driver-assist features too. There's not much more to be said for the Premier. It comes with some minor cosmetic flourishes on the outside and some extra options for the interior.
Which trim level to choose will always depend on the buyer's specific needs, priorities and tastes. However, for most buyers, the RS model is probably the best choice. The 3LT is a good budget version of the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. It comes in at a reasonable price and still offers plenty of standard features. Still, most features can be added to lower trim levels as an option if one so desires.
So, why is the RS model the best option for the majority of buyers? It only costs slightly higher than the 3LT, but comes standard with the brawny V6 engine. The enviable engine means more horsepower and better performance overall. Besides, it is endowed with most of the same convenience, technology and safety features of the Premier model.
Since the Premier trim level reverts back to the 4-cylinder engine and is roughly the same price as the RS models, there's little reason to choose it over the RS. The RS already provides the best of what Chevrolet has to offer here. It's hands-down the best value of all four trim levels.
