2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Trim Levels, Configurations & Comparisons: LS vs LT vs Activ and RS

Compare the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Trims - LS vs LT vs Activ and RS. What is the difference between them?

Although it is a small SUV, the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer advances with big horizons. With a great combination of fuel economy, versatility, and capability, the subcompact crossover takes a front lead in the market. Depending on the model, it may even be able to handle some light off-roading.

Chevy decided to give buyers yet another option by reintroducing the Trailblazer in 2021. It is larger than their Trax, but smaller than the popular family-focused Equinox. Many critics have praised the new Trailblazer for its spacious interior and leading-edge technology features for both entertainment and safety. On the other hand, performance features leave quite a bit to be desired.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer omits last year's entry-level L trim. All models are now facilitated with satellite radio, and there is a new trailering package available to further broaden the Trailblazer's appeal. With the elimination of the L trim, there are now four unique versions of this SUV to choose from.

Drivers want to know which trim level has the features they will really use in their daily drives. This guide will answer all your questions about the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer and explain the differences between the different trims so the right choice can be made.

Compare the Trailblazer LS vs. Trailblazer LT Trims. What is the difference?

Even though the LS trim of the 2022 Trailblazer is an affordable choice, its 1.2L turbocharged three-cylinder engine provides far from thrilling power with only 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque - perfect for getting around town but not ideal on highways. A continuously variable transmission paired with front wheel drive finish off this base model's economical design to keep you moving without breaking your budget.

Underneath the 2022 Trailblazer LS are 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels. Halogen headlamps and taillamps are standard, and the headlights have an automatic on and off feature. Like all models of the Trailblazer, the LS has signature LED daytime running lights. The liftgate is manual. While the side mirrors have power adjustment, they do have to be folded in manually and are lacking heat.

The straightforward cabin of the Trailblazer LS takes the lead with a thoughtfully designed, spacious interior. The driver seat receives a six-way manual adjustment whilst the front passenger seat is four-way manually adjustable. On the plus side, the front passenger seat folds completely flat, making it easy to load longer cargo into the Trailblazer.

Speaking of loading in gear, the Trailblazer has some of the most impressive cargo space areas in its class. With the second row of seating up, there are 23.5 cubic feet to work with. With the second row down, drivers are looking at 54.4 cubic feet.

The single-zone and manually-adjustable climate control helps to remind buyers that this is the entry-level option in the Trailblazer lineup. A 3.5-inch monochromatic driver information display and 7-inch touchscreen come standard for the LS. The wireless versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included - perfect for those who hate to see their cabins cluttered with cords. A Wi-Fit hotspot is also thrown in to keep this SUV connected while out on the road.

Although by no means fully loaded, the Trailblazer LS does have a decent number of standard driver aids. The model comes with a lane-keeping system along with forward-collision mitigation. Automatic high beams are also found on the LS and all other models of the 2022 Trailblazer.

The Trailblazer LS, like all the other models, includes the popular Teen Driver feature. Parents can use this to keep an eye on their teenager's driving behavior, as well as the set limits on the radio volume and top speed. All models also come with Onstar and Chevrolet Connected Services, both of which can come in handy when experiencing a roadside emergency. A tire pressure display, tire pressure monitoring system, and tire fill alert are all standard across the board.

The LT makes several important quality-of-life upgrades to the SUV. The mechanical aspects stay the same, but the exterior gains roof rails. It also adds LED foglights and heated side mirrors. The wheel size remains 17-inches, but they are gloss black rather than silver. Tinted windows are added to the rear for extra privacy and protection from the sun.

Inside, the Trailblazer LT has a push-button start. Drivers can also get their SUV going before stepping outside, thanks to the standard remote engine start found on this trim and higher. Cruise control, which is noticeably missing on the LS, becomes standard for the LT. While the 3.5-inch driver information display remains standard for the entire lineup, the LT is the first to offer a 4.2-inch color option as well.

The comfort features are taken to the next level in the LT, which gains heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Automatic climate control is not standard but does make an appearance on the available features list. It is included in the Convenience Package, which also includes rear USB charging ports, an 8-inch touchscreen, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 120-volt power outlet. This package is also available on the Activ and RS trim level but cannot be equipped on the LS.

When buyers choose the LT trim or higher, they also have the option of adding the Driver Confidence package. It includes rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Also included is lane change warning featuring side blind-zone alert. A Sun and Liftgate package, which unsurprisingly consists of a hands-free liftgate and panoramic sunroof, is available as well.

The LT has a starting price that is only about $2,000 more than the LS - making it a tempting pick. Moreover, the diverse features you can choose to have attached to it makes it worth serious consideration, as long as it falls under your budget.

Compare the Trailblazer LT vs. Trailblazer Activ. What is the difference?

Chevrolet has unleashed an adrenaline-fueled ride that's sure to be a hit with daredevil drivers: the Trailblazer Activ. It rocks a turbocharged 1.3L engine, putting out 155 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft of torque - enough oomph to make merging onto highways much less stressful! There’s also choice between front-wheel or all-wheel drive options plus you get nine speeds courtesy of its automatic transmission – now that's what we call fast adventures.

Whether you prioritize power or efficiency, the LS and LT models of your favorite car offer something to suit. Enjoy 33 mpg on highways with front-wheel drive, along with 29 in urban areas - switch up for all-wheel drive and get 31/29 highway/city respectively. Not enough? The 1.3L engine gives an additional bonus: 30 mpg cruising down highways while still delivering 26 around town.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer's towing capacity allows you to bring even more than can fit in the cargo along for the ride. Whereas the standard 1.2L engine is not recommended to tow, going with the 1.3L allows you to tow up to 1,000 pounds if the SUV is properly equipped. While this is not going to haul a sizable trailer, it may be able to handle smaller items like an ATV, canoe, or jet skis. It may also be up for a small utility trailer or pop-up camper, making models with this engine much more useful.

The Activ model is geared toward off-roading, which is reflected in its upgraded suspension. It also has underbody skid plates and a standard tow hook to help make it more rugged. Underneath this model are what Chevrolet calls "sport terrain" tires. The Activ has a variety of exterior changes that set it apart, including a two-tone roof. LED taillamps are now standard, although LED headlights are merely optional.

Several luxury upgrades are incorporated to the interior of the Trailblazer Activ. The upholstery is synthetic leather whilst the steering wheel and shifter knob are both wrapped in actual leather. The steering wheel is even heated. For the rear passengers, a center armrest is added for more storage and convenience.

Otherwise, the Activ is equipped the same as the LT. It gains no standard driver assistance features, but it does open up more package options. The Activ is definitely a trim level that is designed to appeal to a specific segment of the market. Whether or not it is the right model completely depends on how the driver intends to use their new Trailblazer.

Compare the Trailblazer Activ vs. Trailblazer RS Trim Levels. What is the difference?

The RS is very similar to the Activ. It keeps the larger 1.3L engine and comes standard with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional once again. One main difference involves the wheel size, with the Activ sitting on 17-inch ones while the RS goes with 18-inches instead. It also goes back to all-season tires.

When shoppers choose to go with the Activ, they can have either a Zeus Bronze Metallic or a Summit white roof. The RS is also available with a two-tone paint scheme, although its roof options are Crimson Metallic and Mosiac Black Metallic. While the Activ is covered in specialized badging, the RS takes a more subtle approach to its exterior design.

Inside, a variety of red accents are found throughout the cabin, giving the RS an athletic look and feel. Otherwise, the RS is equipped identically to the Activ. It is worth noting that most of the more luxurious and advanced features stay merely available for both the RS and Activ rather than joining their standard feature lists.

The Activ and RS have one significant certain feature package in common. They can both be equipped with the Technology package, which bundles a Bose premium sound system, 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging pad, and LED headlights. It also includes adaptive cruise control and a high-resolution rearview camera. The Driver Confidence and Convenience packages continue to be available, along with the Sun and Liftgate package.

Final Thoughts

All of the trim levels are equipped well enough to represent a smart buy. Drivers who want all-wheel drive should consider adding it to the LT model. The extra features gained here, such as heated front seats and the roof rails, make it worth paying a little extra for.

If a more powerful engine is a requirement, drivers can choose between the RS and Activ trims. They have the same starting price, making the decision more about the looks and style than anything else. Both of them come in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive and the standard and available features are identical.

If you are hoping to go with the most fuel-efficient model of the series, then your best option is the LT. Besides a good fuel economy, the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT model also offers many standard convenient features, great looks and an affordable price.
