Hyundai Palisade Overview:

Hyundai introduced the Palisade to drivers in 2020 as its new three-row SUV. It instantly became a hit thanks to its generous space and a long list of standard equipment. In 2021, the Palisade ups its game with a brand-new Calligraphy trim level. With an even longer list of options than before, now seems like a good time for buyers to check this SUV out. Read on to discover more about the 2021 Hyundai Palisade.

What's New for 2021?

The trim-topping Calligraphy trim is the most attention-grabbing change for 2021. This model has a unique design for its 20-inch wheels. The upgrades inside of the cabin include quilted leather in the door panels and a perforated leather steering wheel. Elsewhere in the lineup, the Palisade gets wireless smartphone integration on all trim levels. Both HD radio and LED headlights join the standard equipment list as well.

Performance Stats

Despite having more trim options, the Palisade sticks with one strong engine in 2021. The 3.8L V6 has the ability to make 291-horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This is enough power to quickly accelerate and get up to highway speeds. There is an eight-speed automatic transmission in all models as well. The only model to give buyers all-wheel drive standard is the Calligraphy. All other options start with front-wheel drive and offer AWD as an upgrade.

Fuel Economy

The EPA estimates that the Palisade will get drivers 19mpg in the city and 26mpg on the highway. These numbers are not class-leading but are certainly respectable for a vehicle of this size. Any model that has all-wheel drive will go down to 17mpg city and 24mpg highway.

Safety Features

Hyundai has cemented its reputation as a reliable family brand in recent years. This was done in large part by giving their vehicles high-tech safety features. The 2021 Palisade is no exception, coming standard with forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and much more.

One of the most important standard features is the driver attention monitor. By keeping track of a driver's typical patterns, it can detect when a driver may be getting drowsy or distracted and need a break. There are optional features available for select trims as well, like a surround-view camera system and a head-up display.

Interior Space

Above-average cargo space is one of the Palisade's highlights. When all of the seats are up, this midsize SUV offers up an impressive 18 cubic feet. Behind the second-row, drivers get almost 46 cubic feet. The maximum cargo capacity is 86 cubic feet when measured behind the first row.

The Palisade is not just roomy when it comes to gear, either. In its standard configuration, this SUV offers ample space for eight people. Many families will choose to go with the second-row captain's chairs, which will reduce seating down to seven but make accessing the third-row much easier.

Technology

Sticking with the entry-level 2021 Palisade will still get drivers plenty of standard tech features. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard. You can use an intuitive combination of touch and physical controls to easily access the features, such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. HD radio is also standard, along with a whopping five USB ports.

Not enough? Not to worry, the Palisade also has a long list of available tech upgrades. Highlights include a 12-speaker premium audio system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, and navigation. You can even get an intercom to make communication easier with the third-row.

Trim Levels

Now that the Calligraphy trim is on the table, there are four models of the Palisade to be considered. The entry-level offering is called the SE. On top of all the standard tech and safety features, it has nice exterior touches such as alloy wheels. This model comes standard with seating for eight people, with bench seats for the second and third rows.

Many buyers will find that the SEL is better suited to their needs. Upgrades are significant and include things like heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and power-adjustment for the driver's seat. This model comes standard with seating for seven but can also be had with bench seats for both back rows.

Then there is the Limited trim, which has a hands-free power liftgate, ventilated front seats, and ambient interior lighting. It also has a more comfortable ride thanks to its self-leveling rear suspension. The Calligraphy model gets the same equipment but with a different look, plus the standard all-wheel drive.

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade is a three-row SUV that the whole family will approve of. Its power, tech, and comfort features make it one that deserves a test drive.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Hyundai Palisade

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Hyundai Palisade invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Hyundai Palisade MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
