How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Hyundai Palisade

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Hyundai Palisade invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Hyundai Palisade Overview:

The Palisade is a relatively new addition to Hyundai's lineup, and in its short time on the market, it's gained a lot of attention. Though this three-row SUV looks stylish and feels upscale, it still manages to have a reasonable price tag, at least with its lower trims. It has a lot of thing working in its favor, from its high-tech cabin to its powerful engine.

What Has Changed for the 2022 Model Year?

There have been some minor changes made to the Palisade this year. First, it gets side mirrors with integrated turn signals as a standard component. Also, the safety package has been beefed up. Now, all trims have blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance. These complement the other warning and mitigation systems that the Palisade previously had.

The Driving Experience

Many drivers would agree that the 2022 Hyundai Palisade offers a comfortable ride and that the SUV feels strong and capable. This Hyundai runs on a 3.8-liter V6 and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine can deliver 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, so the SUV feels like it has enough power to conquer challenging terrain.

The Palisade doesn't feel like a huge vehicle when maneuvering around parking lots and dealing with crowded city streets. At the same time, it can be driven confidently in rough conditions, as it can come with all-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive models have downhill brake control to help control their speed in hilly areas, and all models have hill-start assist control. When equipped with trailer brakes, it can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Unfortunately, the Palisade is not going to win any awards for being efficient. In an age in which a lot of focus is shifting to electric and hybrid vehicles, the Palisade hangs on to a traditional powertrain. Its estimated fuel economy for city driving is 19 miles per gallon and 26 miles per gallon for highway driving. Having all-wheel drive lowers the highway mileage to 24 miles per gallon.

Inside the Cabin

A major factor that helps the Palisade stand out is its comfortable and spacious cabin. It provides second-row passengers with an impressive 42.4 inches of leg room. This row can either accommodate two or three people, depending on whether it has a bench seat or a pair of captain's chairs.

The third row is smaller, but it can still fit three across. It comes with 31.4 inches of leg room. Behind that last row, there's a cargo area that has a volume of 18 cubic feet. Some people will likely end up keeping that third row, or at least part of it, folded down to create more cargo space when they don't have a full group of passengers riding with them. When all rear seats are folded down, the cargo capacity is 86.4 cubic feet.

Seats can be wrapped in cloth, leather, or Nappa leather. The driver's seat can be a power-adjustable version with lumbar support, a memory function, and a leg cushion extender, and both front seats can be heated and ventilated. Luxury can even be found on the doors, as they can have quilted leather panels.

Note that the higher-end amenities are mostly included on the top two trims, which are the Limited and Calligraphy. These trims aren't quite as affordable as the SE and SEL trims. They come with heated steering wheels, 12.3-inch digital instrument clusters, and hands-free smart lift gates, too.

Technology

Hyundai has integrated an advanced infotainment system into every Palisade. They all have Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, multiple USB ports, and Bluetooth. The SE and SEL have eight-inch touchscreens. In the Limited and Calligraphy, there are 10.25-inch touchscreens that have been equipped with navigation. With those larger touchscreens also comes premium Harman Kardon sound systems and wireless charging.

The two top trims have a few other key features that many will appreciate. They have heads-up displays to keep drivers more aware of what's going on, they have surround view monitors, and they have in-vehicle intercoms. The intercom amplifies the driver's voice through the speakers; this can be useful since it's not always easy for those in the back to hear whatever is being said up front.

Driver-Assist Systems

As mentioned earlier, every trim now has collision-avoidance technologies that work to prevent accidents having to do with blind spots and rear cross traffic. In addition, they have a parking distance alert that warns drivers when they're getting too close to vehicles behind them, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, and lane keeping and following assist. Further, they have smart cruise control, a program that is helpful when leading vehicles are frequently changing their speed.

Higher trims have some extra components. Instead of just having rear parking distance alert, they have distance alerts for both reverse and forward. Plus, they have highway driving assist, which can make adjustments to both speed and steering on certain types of open roads.

The Palisade can be ideal for a variety of potential buyers, including those who value its power and capability, people who have busy households and need a lot of cabin space, and customers who appreciate all of its high-tech equipment. Of course, most people have various needs and prefer to have vehicles that are well-rounded. The Hyundai Palisade is certainly that, and it looks modern and stylish while getting its work accomplished.

Note: All Hyundai Palisade MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
