Hyundai Palisade Overview:

Entering a crowded field, a new flagship Hyundai is here to seat up to eight people on three rows. The 2020 Hyundai Palisade can claim premium good looks and cutting-edge technologies among its hallmarks. Trims include SE, SEL and Limited.

What's New for 2020?

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is a truly new model, and it has already been scooping up awards. It earned Best Family SUV in the Driving Today Best Buy Awards. Scoring another win, the Palisade beat six other vehicles in the Cars.com Three-row SUV Challenge.

Having earned a spot on the 2019 Wards 10 Best User Experiences list, the Palisade's tech toys have been declared top notch. This includes the driver-assist tech as well as dash tech and innovative conveniences. There are many class first features and Hyundai-first tech on the Palisade menu.

Exterior

Built to make an impression, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade wears a bold, wide cascading grille. The angled chrome creates an extended hood profile. A panoramic rear glass makes the third row feel open and gives the Palisade a more distinctive look.

Despite its size, the Palisade has a .33 coefficient of drag. To achieve this, Hyundai engineers utilized aero underside panels, a front cooling area, and wheel aero deflectors and spoiler side garnishes at the rear.

Palisade lights can handle many jobs. Automatic headlights turn themselves on. High Beam Assist turns the light up and down. The vertically-connected headlights form a unique lighting signature. In addition, Side Approach Lights and door handle lights welcome Limited owners to the Palisade.

Interior

The Paliside SE seats 8 while the Limited seats 7. You can choose either configuration with the SEL trim. When equipped, the driver's power chair has power lumber, an integrated memory system, and leg cushion extension. The center console is a floating bridge design with an open storage compartment underneath.

An exclusive Haptic Feedback steering wheel is standard, and, of course, you can have it power-heated as well. You can enjoy two rows of heated seats. More surprisingly, you can also get two rows of ventilated seats. The handsome cloth seats can be upgraded to luxurious Nappa leather.

Parents will appreciate a conversation mirror to keep an eye on passengers on the back row of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The second row seats can moved with one touch to allow entry to the back row. Leading its class, the SUV boasts 42.4 inches of second-row legroom.

Second-row power folding seats and an underfloor storage compartment are standard. Power-folding third-row seats are available.

This is the first vehicle to feature a roof vent diffuser design. This permits rear passengers to get a better stream of air. It can be partially or fully diffused, depending on the needs of the passengers.

Technology

In giving its User Experience awards, Wards Auto praised the user-friendly controls and displays of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade touch screen. This is the first Hyundai to offer Driver Talk-In. This intercom system lets parents talk to the kids on the back row. Rear Seat Quiet Mode lets you cut audio to the backseat.

Palisades offer a 10.25-inch navigation touch screen with a widescreen format. Behind the steering wheel, drivers can utilize a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster.

A new Qi wireless charging pad works for Apple iPhones and compatible Android devices. For the best sound, a premium Infinity audio system has Quantum Logic and Clari-Fi technology. There are seven USB ports spread out in the cabin.

Powertrain

The new SUV has a powerful Lambda II V6 engine. Output is 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Helping keeping fuel costs down, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade offers an idle stop-and-go system.

An eight-speed automatic transmission offers the fun of Shiftronic manual shifting. The standard front-wheel drivetrain can be traded for Hyundai HTRAC all-wheel drive.

A front MacPherson suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension provide a smooth ride quality. Limited editions add a self-leveling rear suspension to control for the worst bumps.

Safety

The Paliside earned a 2019 Top Safety Pick Plus Award when crash-tested and evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. If equipped with the optional LED headlights, the new SUV is considered a better safety choice.

Even the inexpensive SE edition comes with pedestrian detection and a forward collision warning. An avoidance assist can reduce the chances of a collision. Likewise the lane keeper has an assist function to help straighten out the large SUV's trajectory.

Automatic park logic will turn off the SUV if the driver turns off the engine and opens the door. A parking distance warning, a rear occupant alert, and a driver attention warning are additional standards.

The SEL edition adds a blind spot system with its own avoidance assistance. This system tries to prevent lane changes where neighboring cars are too close. Likewise, the rear cross traffic alert responds to oncoming traffic and can help brake to avoid a crash. Ready to sound the alarm, Safe Exist Assist is designed to recognize when moving vehicles may hit your open door.

Limited editions add a highway drive assist system and a heads-up display. A blind spot monitor provides video of the sides to ensure that the driver can see neighboring cars.

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is sure to become a home away from home for many families. Fortunately, it has the horsepower and features to please the family driver is a big plus.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Hyundai Palisade

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Hyundai Palisade invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Hyundai Palisade MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
