2017 Ford Expedition Overview:
Powerful, rugged and luxurious, the 2017 Ford Expedition is the ideal family vehicle. Under the hood, this versatile Ford boasts a turbocharged V6 engine that's compatible with a signature 4x4 drive. An 8-inch infotainment system and 12-speaker sound system are also available in the Expedition.

Trims

The Ford Expedition is a full-size Sport Utility Vehicle that starts at just above $47,000. Available with luxurious features and high-tech installations, the King Ranch EL, Platinum and Platinum EL cost well over $60,000. All of the Expedition models come with eight total seats.

Performance

Featuring twin turbochargers, the Ford Expedition's 3.5 L EcoBoost V6 engine has a top output of 365 horsepower. Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) also helps this six-cylinder engines achieve a peak output of 420 pound-feet of torque. The Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) technology manages the combustion cycle. Featuring the Full Manual Mode, the six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission system works in sync with the EcoBoost engine.

This Ford SUV rolls on a standard rear-wheel drive that's designed for smooth takeoffs on paved roads. When equipped with the Control Trac 4WD system, this vehicle is ready to tackle multiple terrains including mud, sand, snow and gravel. Off-road adventures won't shake up the chassis that's supported by the Continuously Controlled Damping, which analyzes more than 40 parameters in real time.

Efficiency

The 2017 Ford Expedition offers a maximum fuel economy of 20 MPG on the highway. When rolling in the city, this powerful SUV has a rating of 15 MPG. Most of the trims come with a 28-gallon fuel tank that guarantees a driving range of about 560 miles. Having a 33.5-gallon fuel tank, the Expedition EL can be driven nonstop for approximately 670 miles.

Technology

The 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system is the high-tech gem in the 2017 Ford Expedition. From GPS navigation to SiriusXM Satellite Radio, this platform offers plenty of digital utilities. All three rows are filled with high-quality sound that's generated by the 12 Sony speakers. Featuring a DVD player and dual monitors, a rear entertainment system by INVISION is also available in this family-friendly Ford.

Safety

When it comes to active safety, the Expedition offers several features such as the Blind Spot Information System. Using radar technology, the BLIS alerts the driver of a potential side collision with another vehicle that approaches from behind. This Ford also has the Forward and Reverse Sensing System that's connected to several ultrasonic sensors. When the vehicle is driven in reverse, the SYNC 3 screen automatically shows live rear views.

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Ford Expedition

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Ford Expedition invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Ford Expedition MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
