How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Toyota Corolla Cross

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Toyota Corolla Cross invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Toyota Corolla Cross Overview:

Toyota has brought a new vehicle to its lineup for the 2022 model year, and that's the Corolla Cross. While it shares part of its name with the Corolla sedan, the Corolla Cross is actually an SUV. It's on the smaller side, but things can be moved around in the cabin to create more cargo space. That's exactly the type of configuration that some drivers are looking for.

Engine and Performance

The Toyota Corolla Cross runs on a 2.0-liter engine. It uses a continuously variable automatic transmission, which is typical of many vehicles that have this kind of engine. Horsepower is 169, and torque is 151 pound-feet. This isn't anything to be particularly excited about, but the good news is that the Corolla Cross offers a smooth ride.

Two out of the three Corolla Cross trims are set up with front-wheel drive. The third, which is called the XLE, has all-wheel drive. This should please consumers who may have to deal with snowy or otherwise slippery conditions on occasion.

What should be welcome news for potential buyers is that the Corolla Cross is very efficient. It can earn up to 33 miles per gallon on the highway and up to 31 miles per gallon in the city.

Driver-Assist Systems

The Corolla Cross benefits from having Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. This is a package of driver-assist systems that can work to prevent certain kinds of accidents. The SUV can sense imminent frontal collisions, and when it does so, it can warn drivers and potentially hit the brakes. The safety package also comes with systems that can keep the vehicle centered in its lane, and it has automatic high beams and road sign assist.

Adaptive cruise control is another feature that people will appreciate having. It can maintain a set speed if traffic is moving steadily. If the leading vehicle slows down, the system will slow down the Corolla Cross to match the new speed. It can then speed up again if the congestion clears up.

The higher trims have more sensors that can monitor blind spots and rear cross traffic. Plus, the top trim has front and rear parking assist to prevent minor fender benders.

Interior Features

As previously mentioned, the Corolla Cross is a compact SUV. Its second row isn't very large, only having 32 inches of leg room. This could likely be an issue for some people, especially if they know that taller passengers will ever be riding with them.

If the back seat will only be used occasionally, or used by smaller people, then the size of the Corolla Cross shouldn't be a problem. It could, in fact, work in its favor. Many smaller vehicles are less expensive than their larger counterparts, and this is true in the Corolla Cross's case. Its price is quite reasonable, and this will certainly help it stand out.

Cargo volume in the back of the SUV is 26.5 cubic feet. This is considerably more space than what a sedan offers, and it's a primary reason why the Corolla Cross will appeal to some customers. As expected, the rear seats can be folded down to create more room. Total cargo volume in this case would be about 65 cubic feet. This is actually a generous amount that allows the SUV to accommodate a variety of items.

This model comes standard with fabric-trimmed seats and manual air conditioning. It can be upgraded with SofTex upholstery, which is a synthetic leather. It can also be enhanced with an automatic dual-zone climate control system, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The XLE, which is the highest trim, actually has an extensive list of benefits, including a leather shift knob, ambient lighting, and an armrest that's available for the rear-seat passengers.

Like many other Toyotas, the Corolla Cross has a modern infotainment system. The entry-level trim, the L, has a seven-inch touchscreen. The LE and XLE both have eight-inch touchscreens. The touchscreens are easy to interact with, and people will appreciate that they come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In addition, they have a few features that aren't always found on vehicles, especially budget-friendly ones. Amazon Alexa is a standard component, and so is SiriusXM. SiriusXM can provide a lot more entertainment options, and Amazon Alexa is great for looking up information and communicating with other Alexa-compatible devices.

The LE and XLE can have nine JBL speakers, including a subwoofer and an amplifier. The result is a crisp and clear sound.

With its affordability, technology, and cargo capacity, the Toyota Corolla Cross is an intriguing choice. It may make sense for customers who are looking for versatility and convenience.

Note: All Toyota Corolla Cross MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
