Toyota GR Supra Overview:

The 2021 Toyota GR Supra is one of the best sports cars you can buy under $100,000. It’s a great value in comparison to some of its German rivals. Many drivers have been wooed by the GR Supra’s exotic-looking styling and exhilarating performance. While the new GR Supra may have a high fun factor, it’s still practical enough to drive every day.

What’s New for 2021?

To make the new GR Supra more appealing to a greater range of buyers, Toyota has introduced a more affordable four-cylinder model. A rare A91 Edition model has arrived as well. Furthermore, last year’s optional infotainment system is now a standard feature.

What Styles Does It Come In?

All versions of the 2021 Toyota GR Supra come in the form of a two-door coupe. Keep in mind that there’s only room for two passengers. The Supra is also strictly a rear-wheel-drive car.

What Are the Trim Levels?

The base GR Supra 2.0 is geared towards drivers who’re looking to save some serious money. This trim comes equipped with a new turbo four-cylinder engine. Some nice features come standard, including a larger 8.8-inch infotainment display. Dual-zone automatic climate control, non-powered sport seats, and a multifunction smart key are also standard. Most importantly, buyers won’t have to pay extra for pre-collision braking and lane departure warning. Available options include blind-spot monitoring, a JBL premium sound system, and wireless Apple CarPlay.

While the GR Supra 3.0 doesn’t feel more luxurious than the entry-level model, it does promise more performance with a turbo six-cylinder engine. Toyota also outfits this trim with an adaptive suspension and an active rear sport differential for enhanced handling.

Folks seeking more creature comforts will be interested in the GR Supra 3.0 Premium. Power seats with heating come standard. There’s also a head-up display and a 500-watt JBL sound system inside the GR Supra 3.0 Premium.

New for 2021 is the limited-production A91 Edition model. Its interior features Alcantara upholstery with blue accent stitching. Carbon-fiber and matte black exterior treatments also help make this trim special.

The GR Supra’s Exterior Styling

Toyota gave the new GR Supra a number of distinctive styling cues. Its “double bubble” roof definitely stands out. Drivers are also drawn to the GR Supra’s racy front fascia, which features multi-element LED headlights. While the four-cylinder model receives 18-inch alloy wheels, larger 19-inch wheels are featured on the more powerful six-cylinder models. Cool paint options, like Downshift Blue and Nitro Yellow, enable the GR Supra to attract more attention.

Interior Features

The GR Supra’s infotainment system is sourced directly from BMW. A console-mounted controller knob makes it easier to use the interface. Buyers will appreciate the newly standard 8.8-inch display screen. A digital gauge cluster also enables drivers to access information while on the go. While the standard sound system is decent, avid music listeners will prefer the 12-speaker premium audio system.

Performance Facts

For good reason, experts expect a lot of drivers to choose the GR Supra’s new turbo four-cylinder engine. It pushes out 255 horsepower, which enables the coupe to accelerate to 60 mph in around 5.1 seconds. Drivers seeking more thrills can move up to the turbo six-cylinder engine with 382 horsepower. The extra muscle drops the car’s 0-60 mph time to 3.8 engines. Both of these BMW-built engines are linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota recently revised the Supra GR’s chassis. This change has drastically improved road handling. Adaptive dampers are equipped on the more powerful models, thus enhancing overall ride quality.

Quality and Comfort

The GR Supra’s interior is clearly focused on maximizing the driver’s experience. Its cabin fits like a glove. However, comfort is also high on this sport car’s list of priorities. Expect the hip-hugging seats to provide miles and miles of comfort. There’s also a surprising amount of legroom for taller folks. Although the GR Supra doesn’t have a gigantic trunk, there’s a reasonable 10.2 cubic feet of storage space. The only major downside is that this two-seater can’t accommodate kids.

Interior quality is excellent for a car that has a starting MSRP of less than $43,000. Even the base model features nice materials. Toyota also did a fantastic job on minimizing wind noise at high speeds.

Safety

The federal government hasn’t given the 2021 Toyota GR Supra an official safety rating. Nevertheless, it does come standard with forward collision intervention and lane departure intervention. Because of the car’s poor rear visibility, the optional blind-spot monitor is highly recommended. Adaptive cruise control is included in the available Driver’s Assist safety package.

Fuel Economy

Despite being a high-performance coupe, the 2021 Toyota GR Supra is good on gas, This is especially true for the new four-cylinder model, which delivers up to 25 mpg town/32 mpg freeway. Even the more powerful GR Supra can return 30 mpg at normal highway speeds. To no surprise, premium fuel is a necessity.

The 2021 Toyota GR Supra GR has the style and performance to compete against much pricier sports cars. Budget-minded drivers will love what the new four-cylinder model brings to the table. Could this be your dream ride?

How to Calculate The Dealer Cost of a Toyota GR Supra

Formula for Calculating Dealer Cost:

  • Example: Base Toyota GR Supra invoice price + the dealer Invoice price of all the options + destination - Holdback = Total Dealer Cost.
  • What is Holdback? A hidden amount that manufacturers give back to a dealer. It is a percentage of the MSRP or the Invoice price.

Total Dealer Cost - Rebate and Incentive + Taxes / Licensing Fees = True Dealer Cost. (You can get rebates and incentives here)

Note: All Toyota GR Supra MSRP, invoice and dealer cost dollar figures above are approximate amounts. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A note about rebates: Most rebates are subtracted from the "on the road" figure. In most cases, you can have the rebate if you are arranging your own financing or you are paying cash. If you decide to use the manufacturer’s low interest financing, you do not usually get the rebate. Ask your dealer for details.
